 Statement on proselytising

ACSI

Home > About us > Statement on proselytising

Along with other Christian groups and individuals, Australian Christians Supporting Israel looks forward to the redemption of all of humanity through Jesus the Messiah.

However, out of respect to Judaism and Jewish people, ACSI board members have agreed not to engage in any missionary activities.

After centuries of Church-sponsored anti-Semitism and a fear among parts of the Jewish community that Christian support for Israel is based or dependent on Jews accepting Jesus, the ACSI Board feels the best way to build bridges between Christian and Jewish communities is to state openly the following principles:

  • We will never deny our faith as Christians;
  • We will answer honestly and to the best of our abilities anyone - either Jew or Gentile - who asks us a question about our faith;
  • We will not engage in proselytising activities, recognising that conversation about our faith does not, in and of itself, amount to attempts to convert people.

ACSI cannot, and nor does it wish to, impose these principles on other Christians, including anyone who attends ACSI meetings. As to the content of the meetings, ACSI is determined that any Jew - religious or secular - who attends them will not be made to feel uncomfortable by their content.
